This week we picked up two new items for our inventory. The first is the latest and greatest from Nikon - the Nikon D4. A 16 megapixel processor coupled with a EXPEED3 processor, 10 frames per second and greater ISO range the D4 is designed for a working professional photographer. It's a very different machine than the Nikon body that's gotten all the press (The D800 with it's 36.3 megapixels) but offers some advantages over it to say the least. To see a comparison between the two, check out snapsort.com (As a side note, snapsort's overall score is pretty subjective, but it offers a nice comparison of features).
The other new item we added this week is affectionately known as the "Bigma II" for Canon: The Sigma 50-500 f/4.5-6.3 OS HSM. There is no lens that covers this range, giving you a normal (50mm) to super telephoto (500mm) all in one lens. Combined with Sigma's ultrasonic motor and optical stabilization and you have a great lens that offers a lot of versatility. It's not for your next indoor wedding or your Friday night football game, but for outdoor sports or wildlife it offers a lot of options.
